What LexiRep processes, where it is stored, and the one case where something leaves your device.

In short

LexiRep never asks you to create an account and never asks who you are. All of your learning data stays on your device.

There is one exception: speech. When you play a word or a sentence, that TEXT is sent to our server and on to Microsoft’s text-to-speech service. Details below.

Data that stays on your device

The following is held only in your browser’s or phone’s local storage and is never sent to us:

• The words you have learned and each one’s review schedule (SM-2 records)
• Your favourites and the words marked difficult
• Correct/incorrect counts and your daily progress statistics
• Your settings: native language, studied languages, theme, interface language, audio preferences
• Word lists you imported and any corrections you made to the built-in words

You can erase all of it by clearing the site data in your browser or uninstalling the app. Because we hold no copy, there is no deletion request to send us.

Speech (the one thing that leaves)

When you listen to a word or an example sentence, the app sends that text and a language code to our own server function. The function generates the audio through Microsoft’s text-to-speech service and returns the audio file.

What is sent is the text to be read. If you are listening to the list that ships with the app, that text comes from a publicly available word list anyway. If you are listening to a list you imported yourself, your text travels the same path — worth keeping in mind if you imported anything personal or confidential.

Nothing identifying you is sent alongside the text; with no accounts there is no identity to send. The generated audio is cached so the same phrase is not requested repeatedly.

When your device’s own speech engine is used instead (for example when the server cannot be reached), no data leaves the device at all.

Server logs

The site and the speech function are hosted on Vercel. Like any hosting provider, Vercel keeps technical request logs: IP address, timestamp, requested address and browser information. For a speech request, the requested address also contains the text to be read.

We do not use these logs for marketing or profiling; they are only used for debugging.

What we do not do

• We do not show ads or sell data to ad networks
• We do not use analytics, tracking pixels or third-party trackers
• We do not set tracking cookies that would need a consent banner
• We do not sell, rent or share personal data

Children

LexiRep is not directed at any particular age group, and since it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either.

Changes

If this text changes, the “last updated” date above changes with it. For anything significant we will say so inside the app.
